(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - At the meeting held on the sidelines of the NAM summit in Tehran on Friday, Ahmadinejad expressed the hope that during Iran's presidency the movement would witness "effective and constructive" steps in the interest of the member states.
As regards Iran's ties with Sudan, President Ahmadinejad said, "The bilateral ties are growing at a good speed", adding that every opportunity, including meetings on the sidelines of the NAM summit, should be taken to promote bilateral ties.
Bashir, for his part, voiced optimism about the future of the between Khartoum and Tehran.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent.
Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
The country is considered as one of the AU's strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
